Protect Your Skin, Protect Yourself
After a long winter, the sun is finally out! Warmer weather
comes with some dangers that everyone should be aware of before
enjoying the sun. This sun and heat information will better prepare
you to safely enjoy the summer sun, and stay cool.
- Minimize your exposure during peak intensity: 10am -
4pm.
- Apply waterproof sunscreen of SPF 30 or above, with both
UVA and UVB protection.
- You can get burnt on a cloudy day. Haze and lower temperatures
do not protect you from sun damage.
- Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before it is needed and reapply
at least every 2 hours spent in the sun.
- Put on some shades. The eye is the second most common site in
which UV-related cancer develops.
- Don't bare it all. To help stay cool, wear lightweight,
light-colored, loose clothing that covers as much of your skin as
possible.
Nobody wants to spend their time sun burnt, over heated or
exhausted. Prepare for being in the sun, and staying cool the best
you can. The sun and heat can be harmful and make the heat
miserable, but just doing a few of the things mentioned above will
help avoid some of the inconvenience caused by the heat. Now
get out and enjoy the sun safely!
